This VN does an excellent job of putting the reader in Tomila's shoes: I felt her frustration and confusion about her friends' strange behavior and refusal to communicate (either with her or with each other) like it was my own, heheh.
For that matter, I've also struggled with dissociative amnesia quite a bit, so I felt even worse for Tomila: There's nothing quite so alienating as seeing everyone except you remember some event or otherwise be on the same page about something that you just can't for the life of you remember, no matter how hard you try...
I'd also like to take a moment to appreciate the character art! It's always such a delight when every character has their own distinct design, all the way down to their makeup and sense of fashion, heheheh~ The portraits having different poses as well as facial expressions for the different emotes is also pretty great, I must say.
"I don't think anything's ruined unless you decide it is." "I'm sick of beating around the bush. Of fighting to get my only friends to be my only friends again."
great stuff. god i LOVE the art on this. the character designs are wonderful. the sprite of noemi looking over her shoulder makes me want to act up. i love the graphic of tomila being held back by the shadow of ???. truly a "you can never truly go back home" anthem. the epilogue was so soothing.
the girls are fighting... and it hurts!! bless sofia and morgan, most of all! thank you for making this!!
Such a great game you guys did a great job !! All of the characters are so unique and the artstyle is really pleasing to look at, definitely a great experience over all well done !!
Definitely an enjoyable experience. The combination of artwork and music sets the mood for each scene extremely well, and really gets you feeling for those in the scene (I love some of the character designs). The story is easy to follow and keeps you interested, and the different personalities of each of the characters are able to shine through, which is an impressive feat to do in a relatively small timespan without it feeling like the story is overcrowded.
If given more time, I'd love to see more of the bonds between the characters form and flourish, maybe even see how the friends were before the move and the events mentioned in the story. It would be interesting to see what these two can do on a larger timescale, and can honestly say I would play a sequel/prequel if that was something the creators did.
I'm surprised you were able to fit such a concise narrative and a big handful of characters into such a short game, and it works! After finishing it I feel like I know all of them individually, even those who don't appear much like Mollz' posse.
The mystery of what happened, the emotions between the members of the estranged friend group and the depiction of Tomila's mental health and how it's been affecting her were very well done. You've got a knack for writing angst, and the bittersweet comfort that followed was all the sweeter because of that :D
